Ruth Harker was a fit and active volunteer, traveller and grand- mother thanks to the amazing advances of Cardiac EP. Her heart problems began 25 years ago. Since then, she's had an angiogram, aortic valve replacement and two bypasses.

Ten years ago she had a heart attack and, in the years since, developed heart failure due to a heart rhythm disorder. In poor health and unable to wait, she travelled to Calgary for Cardiac EP treatment. Within a month, she was back in the swimming pool.

“It changed the quality of my life,” says Ruth. “The thing that gives me the most pleasure is keeping up with my grandchildren.”

Sadly, Ruth recently passed away. Her family says she was proud to be an ambassador for Every Heart Matters because she knew th eimportance of bringing full-time EP treatment to Saskatchewan so others, like her, could live life to the fullest.

Please support the Every Heart Matters Campaign so that people like Ruth can be treated close to their homes and families here in Saskatchewan. Call the RUH Foundation 306-655-1984 or donate online.

Lorna Callbeck is waiting for a cure. A cardiac patient since birth, she has decided not to leave the province for treatment of her heart rhythm disorder in the hope it will be available at RUH soon. Read more of Lorna's story

Dan Lewans was lucky. His heart rhythm disorder was cured by an EP Cardiologist at RUH. However, many patients with Dan's condition must leave the province for treatment. Read more of Dan's story
