Dan Lewans of Swift Current was referred to cardiologist Dr. Carlo Stuglin at Royal University Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a heart rhythm disorder. What a relief! Now he and his wife Pauline knew why he had fainting spells and shortness of breathe. But was there a treatment? Could he return to the active life he'd led before?

At the time, Dr. Stuglin and his colleague Dr. Kelly Coverett were trialing a new high-tech piece of equipment they wished to obtain for their work at RUH. This 3-D imaging equipment allowed Dr. Stuglin to "see" into Dan's heart, identify the area that was misfiring and treat the problem with an ablation procedure. Within days, Dan was enjoying the outdoors again.

"I'm completely cured," says Dan. "It saved my life."
