Five years ago, Dan Lewans began to experience fainting spells and shortness of breath. At RUH, he was diagnosed with a heart rhythm disorder. While many patients with his conditon must leave the province for treatment, Dan was able to undergo a unique cardiac procedure at RUH. "It saved my life," he says.

Read more of Dan's story and the stories of other patient ambassadors.

Standard of Care

While treatment of heart rhythm disorders ~ the sub specialty of Cardiac Electrophysiology ~ is the standard of care across Canada, Saskatchewan did not offer this life-saving treatment to its citizens on a full-time basis. Two cardiologist at RUH were trained in Cardiac EP but, due to a lack of equipment and facilities, they were able to see patients like Dan just one day per week. Read more of their story.

Together, we are changing that! The Every Heart Matters Campaign has raised $5.5 million to construct and equip a world-class Cardiac EP facility and program for the treatment of heart rhythm disorders at Royal University Hospital. You can still support this campaign by calling the RUH Foundation at 306-655-1984 or donating online.
