Art Brings Colour to Healing

In 2010, Rob Rondeau, an author and acclaimed marine archaeologist, was in a car accident that changed his life and sent him in a spiral of depression. After attempting suicide, he awoke in the Dubé Centre. "I could not think in colour," he says. "My life was like a black and white television show."

Then he discovered the Open Art Studio at the Dubé Centre. Through art, he rediscovered the colour and joy in life. "It was amazing," he says. "A studio, a facilitator, a paintbrush and a few jars of paint can go a long way." Rob spoke at the Art Show Opening in November about the impact of the program, expressing his gratitude to the Community Mental Health Endowment donors, RBC Foundation and other donors who provided funding for the pilot year of the Dubé Centre Open Art Studio.

If you would like to view the art, have a tour of the Open Art Studio or make a donation contact the RUH Foundation at (306) 655-1984 or click here to donate online.
