Campaign for Royal University Hospital

First Nations and Métis Health Service

For many First Nation and Métis people, hospital experiences can be difficult. For some, their language is not understood or their cultural beliefs are not recognized. For others, the largest Hospital within the Saskatoon Health Region in Saskatchewan is confusing.

The Royal University Hospital Foundation is helping to change that by committing $604,000 over the next three years to support the development of First Nations and Métis Health Service, an exciting new $3.2 million Saskatoon Health Region initiative at both Royal University and St. Paul’s Hospitals to improve the hospital experience and reduce health disparities for First Nations and Métis patients and their families.

Designed for all ages from children to youth to adults to elders, First Nations and Métis Health Service will serve Aboriginal peoples while in hospital, and better meet the complex issues facing the patient, in a safe, caring and culturally respectful approach.
